Cézanne, Matisse, Hodler. The Hahnloser Collection in Albertina
The Albertina Museum is devoting its spring exhibition of 2020 to one of the most important private collections of French modernist art. The Hahnloser Collection came together between 1905 and 1936, initially on the basis of close and friendly exchange between the collecting couple of Arthur and Hedy Hahnloser-Bühler and artist-friends.

In Conversation with Tega Akpokona on the Use of Light and Colour in Portraiture Painting
Tega Akpokona is one of Nigeria’s young emerging artists. He graduated in 2011 with a BA in Fine and Applied Arts from the University of Benin, where he specialised in painting. After graduation, Akpokona received mentorship from one of Nigeria’s acclaimed artist, Abiodun Olaku. His practice builds on the techniques of the European masters and shares their preoccupation with the effects of light and colour.

Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man Can Go on Loan to Louvre
An Italian court has ruled that Leonardo Da Vinci's iconic "Vitruvian Man" drawing can be loaned to France's Louvre Museum, solving an ongoing cultural dispute between Italy and France.
The Venice court last week had suspended the loan of the world-famous drawing, which is part of a batch of works by Leonardo and Raphael that the Italian government had agreed to send to Paris.

New Fresco with Gladiators Discovered in Pompeii
Archeologists excavating what may have been an ancient Roman drinking den in the ruined city of Pompeii said Friday they have unearthed a well-preserved wall painting of gladiators in action, complete with realistically gory wounds. The 3ft by 4.5ft fresco is located in the Regio V site, in the northern section of Pompeii's archaeological park, in an area not currently accessible to visitors.

Court Stops Loan of Leonardo's Vitruvian Man in the Louvre
Currently, a Venice district court is suspending the loan from the "Belarusian man" to the Louvre to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death. The court accepted a petition from the Cultural Protection Association Italia Nostra, which objected to Leonardo's famous drawing to France.
