Yayoi Kusama opens her own museum in Tokyo with the inaugural exhibition ‘Creation is a Solitary Pursuit, Love is What Brings You Closer to Art’ (October 1, 2017 - February 25, 2018). The exhibition centres on her newest painting series “My Eternal Soul”. Other new works by Yayoi Kusama will also be on display. In addition to the sixteen works from “My Eternal Soul”, the series entitled “Love Forever” will be presented, a collection of black and white drawings that formed the precursor to Kusama’s latest series. Furthermore, an installation piece Kusama has created especially for the museum's opening will be showcased, along with a new pumpkin.

Yayoi Kusama Museum was founded by the avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama, and is run by the Yayoi Kusama Foundation. It opened in 2017 with the aim of spreading and promoting Kusama’s art, exhibiting her works and related materials to contribute to the development of art as a whole. The collection of Kusama’s works will be presented in two exhibitions each year, together with lectures and various other events.
