Visitor Numbers dropped at Louvre and Musée d'Orsay during Paris Olympics

The Louvre announced a 22% drop in attendance from July 27 to August 11, coinciding with the two-week Olympic Games.

Prior to the Olympics, from July 15 to 26, safety restrictions led to a temporary closure of the museums, with visitor numbers plummeting by 45% compared to the same period last year. Similarly, the Musée d'Orsay reported a 29% decrease in visitor attendance, while the Musée de l'Orangerie, famous for housing Monet's masterpieces, experienced a 31% drop, particularly concerning given its location at Place de la Concorde.
