Florence’s Uffizi Galleries announced one of the most ambitious redevelopment programs in its history
The Uffizi Galleries announced one of the most ambitious redevelopment programs in its history, with 50 million euro in restoration, infrastructure and visitor experience projects over the next two years.
Announced by Uffizi Galleries director Simone Verde, the renovation programme spans the Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens, combining conservation work with new exhibition spaces, upgraded visitor facilities and major improvements to climate control and accessibility.
“An operation of unprecedented scale and depth is underway thanks to the extraordinary commitment of the entire staff,” Verde said at a press conference. “The Uffizi will emerge even more beautiful and increasingly capable of representing one of Italy’s fundamental cultural icons.”
