Two arrested over Theft at Louvre Museum
Two suspects in the Louvre heist case have been arrested by French police on Saturday evening, Le Parisien Newspaper reports.
One of the suspects was apprehended about 10pm local time on Saturday at an airport in Paris as he was about to board a plane abroad to Algeria, French media Le Parisien and Paris Match reported.
A second suspect was arrested not long after in the Paris region, according to Le Parisien.
Last Sunday, the thieves clambered up the extendable ladder of a stolen mover's truck and, using cutting equipment, broke into a first-floor gallery containing the jewels.
French investigators analysed dozens of DNA samples and fingerprints following the heist.
Up to "150 DNA samples, fingerprints and other traces" have been identified, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau told the Ouest France local newspaper.
