The Centre Pompidou announces a Donation of 50M Euros from Saudi Arabia

The Center Pompidou announces a donation of 50M euros from Saudi Arabia to finance its work, as part of the intergovernmental agreement signed with France in 2018.

Laurent Le Bon, president of the Center Pompidou :"I am delighted with the agreement signed today by the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, and her Saudi counterpart, Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud. This contribution strengthens the partnership of the Center Pompidou with the Royal Commission for AlUla* and constitutes a very significant contribution to the financing of the Center Pompidou 2030 project.”

The donation from the Royal Commission for AlUla ( The Royal Commission for AlUla, RCU) brings the revenue already acquired by the Center Pompidou for its Center Pompidou 2030 renovation project to 408M euro (i.e. 87% of total financing), including 262M euros supported by the State, and 146M euro coming in particular from international projects and revenue from partnerships, including the contribution from Saudi Arabia.

After validation of the Detailed Preliminary Project by the State next spring, this funding will make it possible to launch the entire project carried out by the project managers AIA and Moreau/Kusunoki/Escobedo, and whose project management is delegated by Oppic. The fundraising campaign continues until 2028 in order to raise the remaining 60M to finance the museography, under project management by the Center Pompidou.
