The planned Renovation of Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, has been put temporarily on hold due to the exceeding Costs. The Municipality of Rotterdam is taking a pause in the design process for the renovation of the building for Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The city decided this in consultation with Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and Mecanoo architects. The reason is an interim calculation of the premilanry Design. This costs for the renovation are much higher than the budget previously set by the city council in 2021. The parties involved have concluded that a pause is necessary for the complex task of renovating and modernizing Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. In the coming period, the parties will jointly investigate how and in which parts the design can be adjusted.
