President Trump Calls for Massive George Washington Statue at the Smithsonian
In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump outlined a vision that includes bringing an 11-foot George Washington statue to the National Museum of American History's Flag Hall for dedication on Constitution Day, September 17, 2026.
Beyond the immediate installation and a proposed five-year exhibition dedicated to Washington’s life, Trump suggested replacing José de Rivera's Infinity—the iconic abstract sculpture outside the museum—with a 30-foot "Washington Colossus," arguing that the current artwork fails to capture the American spirit.

So, I’m asking for the Smithsonian to install the 11-foot Washington statue that was featured at the recent Freedom 250 Grand Prix Race in the Museum’s Flag Hall, and dedicate it this Constitution Day, September 17, 2026.
Immediately design and display a five-year exhibition worthy of the Life, Sacrifice, and Contributions of George Washington.
Then, as soon as it is ready, install a 30-foot Washington Colossus where “Infinity” stands today.
Replace a sculpture that says nothing about America with the man who, more than anyone else, says everything about America.
