Polish-Canadian Man convicted for Projecting Antisemitic Message on Anne Frank House

The court has sentenced the Polish-Canadian suspect in the projection of an antisemitic text on the Anne Frank House on February 6th to two months of unconditional imprisonment with deduction for time already served.

The court has found the 42-year-old man responsible for the projection of the text "Ann Frank [sic], inventor of the ballpoint" on the Anne Frank House. In its verdict, the court also condemns the man for the content of the text and the reference to the so-called "ballpoint theory," in which the authenticity of Anne Frank's diary is denied, and consequently, according to the court, the Holocaust is denied. The court also sees strong indications that the suspect was involved in the production of an antisemitic video in which images of the projection are visible, but it is not proven that he was involved in the publication of the video on a public American Telegram group.

"We have welcomed the verdict with approval. We are especially relieved that the court sees the text 'Ann Frank [sic], inventor of the ballpoint' as a denial of the authenticity of Anne Frank's diary and thus a denial of the Holocaust. Anne Frank's diary is one of the most important testimonies of the Jewish persecution during World War II. Attacks on the authenticity of the diary, along with numerous other claims and publications to cast doubt on or deny the existence of the Holocaust, have been spread for decades, and now increasingly online, often stemming from antisemitic motives. We view the conviction as a powerful signal that there is no room in our society for Holocaust denial, the murder of six million Jews during World War II, and the spread of anti-Semitism." Ronald Leopold, CEO of the Anne Frank Foundation

The Anne Frank Foundation considers promoting Holocaust denial and antisemitic ideology illegal of great importance. Additionally, the Anne Frank Foundation is committed to educating about the Holocaust and the prejudices that underlie antisemitism and other forms of discrimination.
