A speech by Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine, will be screened at the inauguration of the Ukrainian Pavilion, at La Biennale di Venezia on Thursday, 18th April, 16.45pm CET at the Arsenale.
During the address, Olena Zelenska will discuss the importance of La Biennale di Venezia, providing a global platform for Ukraine to show contemporary Ukrainian artists and reaffirm voices of the war-torn country. The First Lady visited and met with the artists and collaborators featured in Best Wishes at their workshop ahead of the Venice presentations (see image for reference).
The National Ukraine Pavilion will present Net Making at La Biennale di Venezia, a group exhibition curated by Viktoria Bavykina and Max Gorbatskyi. The title of the exhibition draws from the practice of Ukrainian civilians collectively weaving camouflage nets during the Russian invasion. This community act is explored as a symbol of collective resistance in the face of war.
