Michelangelo Pistoletto nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Born in 1933, Michelangelo Pistoletto is one of the pioneers of Arte Povera. He has received numerous awards, including the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2003 and the Wolf Prize in Arts in 2007. His work, which explores the relationship between art and the viewer, is part of collections of MoMA, the National Gallery, Tate, Centre Pompidou and the Reina Sofía.

Established in 1895 in accordance with Alfred Nobel’s wishes, the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually to individuals, organisations or movements committed to peace. It was first awarded to Frédéric Passy and Henry Dunant in 1901.
