In the context of Milan Art Week, JR is presenting one of his illusory works – properly called sculptural anamorphoses – in Piazza Duca d’Aosta.
The work The Birth of JR, exhibited in Piazza Duca d’Aosta, aims to highlight the past and present of the site, offering a unique perspective on the transformations that have occurred over time. Through this installation, visitors are invited to explore the history of the station.
The installation The Birth, visible from April 10 to May 1 creates a visual experience through the use of trompe-l’oeil. This fusion of elements ranging across different styles aims to create a kind of visual collage that traces the history of the place.
It is also the first sculptural anamorphosis used by JR, who printed the image directly on aluminum panels instead of using his typical paper and glue. The result is a surreal architectural fantasy that transports the audience on a journey through the station’s past and present.
