Invader Creates Edward Snowden Mosaic in Munich

Invaders' Snowden mosaic is located at the municipal business school on Frauenstrasse in Munich.

The mosaic depicts the face of Edward Snowden, a former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor who leaked classified information about the US government's surveillance activities in 2013. Snowden's actions sparked a global conversation about privacy, security, and the balance between individual rights and government control.

The artwork was installed on the exterior wall of the Haus der Kunst museum in Munich, Germany. The mosaic was made using small ceramic tiles in the colors of a Rubik's Cube. This is because Snowden reportedly hid some of the files he leaked inside a Rubik's Cube.

The installation of the artwork is controversial, as some consider it to be politically charged. However, the museum defended the installation as a statement on freedom of speech and artistic expression. Street art has long been used as a form of protest and social commentary, and the Invader mosaic of Edward Snowden can be seen as a continuation of this tradition.

In addition to the Munich installation, Invader has created other mosaics featuring the faces of famous figures such as Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol, as well as characters from popular culture like Super Mario and the Pink Panther. His works can be found in cities around the world, and have become a recognizable part of the street art scene.
