Gigantic Inflatables conquer Meir Shopping Street, Antwerp

During Antwerp on Air gigantic inflatables will be installed in Antwerp‘s main shopping street.

The Antwerp On Air festival wants to put the architecture of the Meir in the spotlight in an original way. Various inflatable installations from X-treme Creations will be available to discover.

Co-organiser Phil Blondé says :“I sat with the traders of the Antwerp Meir and they really wanted to highlight their street and Antwerp. Many cities do that with a light festival, but I wanted something original.”

His colleague Tanguy Ottomer says: “There is creativity in the air in Antwerp and you can now take that literally. The Meir is the most beautiful shopping street in Flanders and we must continue to highlight it, preferably in a typically Antwerp way."

During Antwerp on Air, the Meir is decorated with eight inflatables, one by Belgian artist Stephanie Cime.

Erica Caluwaerts, Alderwoman for Marketing and Communication says:"Art is the only thing that will save humanity from collapse. To transform unique ideas into reality often requieres multiple views on the matter. These different views bring people together, bind them and result in extraordinary results. Such as what we are able to witness today. Entrepreneurs, artists and creative minds intertwined to be able to present us Antwerp on Air, with the beautiful art 'Drops of I am'. I can only applaud the result and I'm very gratefull to harbour such creative talents in the City of Antwerp."
