At the end of January, during the museum break-in, archaeological artifacts from Romania were stolen. Among the stolen pieces were a famous helmet made of nearly pure gold and three bracelets, which had been on loan from the National History Museum in Bucharest.
A few days after the theft, the first three suspects were arrested, including the 40-year-old woman. Later, the police arrested a fourth suspect. The stolen artifacts have not yet been recovered.
If the artifacts are not found, the Dutch government will have to cover €5.8 million, the insured value of the stolen artifacts.
