Centre Pompidou and Royal Commission for AlUla Sign Partnership Agreement for the Development of a Contemporary Art Museum

The Royal Commission for AlUla and leading French cultural institution the Centre Pompidou have signed an agreement to develop a contemporary art museum.

The agreement was signed by Laurent Le Bon, President of the Centre Pompidou, and Nora Aldabal, Executive Director of Arts AlUla in presence of H.H. Prince Badr bin Farhan Al Saud, the Saudi Minister of Culture and Governor of RCU and Rima Abdul Malak, the French Minister of Culture.

This partnership aims to support the enhancement and development of the cultural, artistic and creative aspects of the AlUla site. The Centre Pompidou will contribute its scientific and technical expertise in the training of staff, particularly in the areas of conservation management of collections and mediation. It may also provide support for the organisation of cultural and event programming.

This agreement is one of several between the Royal Commission for AlUla and renowned local and international arts and culture institutions, including the Louvre in Paris, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts in Jeddah, Misk Art Institute in Riyadh, the German Archaeological Institute and the archaeology department of the University of Western Australia.

The Pompidou partnership will focus on collections and building a special relationship to facilitate museum loans, curatorial partnerships, the sharing of museological expertise, and audience development.
