Annick Lemoine appointed as President of Musée d'Orsay and Orangerie

French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati appointed Annick Lemoine as President of the Musée d'Orsay and Orangerie.

Annick Lemoine began her career in teaching at the University of Paris-Sorbonne, where she defended a thesis entitled Nicolas Régnier (Maubeuge, around 1588 – Venice, 1667): a painter and art dealer in 17th century Italy .

After several years of teaching art history, she joined the office of the Minister of Culture, Frédéric Mitterrand, in 2009 as an advisor in charge of education, arts education, and art history. In 2010, she was appointed head of the art history department at the French Academy in Rome, before becoming, in 2015, scientific director of the Festival of Art History. She was appointed director of the Cognacq-Jay Museum in 2018, followed by the Petit Palais, a position she held since February 2022.

As President of the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de l'Orangerie, Annick Lemoine will continue the work and momentum initiated by Sylvain Amic. She will prioritize the quality of the visitor experience for all audiences, especially young people. She will also oversee the major renovations of the reception areas, which will begin in the autumn of 2026, and strengthen the institution's security policy.

Furthermore, Annick Lemoine will expand the proactive regional outreach initiated by her predecessor, notably through the circulation of works within France’s museums. Simultaneously, she will bolster the institution's international influence and global partnerships, matching the richness of its collections and the scope of its scientific and cultural vision.
