Allesandro Guili was sworn in by the President of the Italy, Sergio Mattarella.
Alessandro Giuli studied Philosophy at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at Sapienza University of Rome. Giuli is a personal friend of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, he was co-director of Il Foglio, as well as a columnist for Libero and a popular television commentator.
He began his journalistic career in some local newspapers and then moved to Il Foglio, appointed deputy director in 2008 and then co-director until 2017. From February to November 2017, he was the director of Tempi. He has collaborated with Linkiesta, Il Tempo, Libero, Corriere dell'Umbria, and Med-Or, a foundation created by Leonardo.
In November 2022, the former Minister of Culture appointed him director of the MAXXI Foundation. He became the Minister of Culture on September 6, 2024, after Sangiuliano's resignation.
Giorgia Meloni: 'With Giuli, we continue to advance culture, I have acknowledged Sangiuliano's resignation and proposed to the President of the Republic to appoint Alessandro Giuli, currently President of the MAXXI Foundation, as the new Minister of Culture. He will continue the effort to revive national culture, consolidating the break with the past that Italians have asked for and that we have initiated since we took office,' wrote Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a statement.
