Amsterdam Art announced the 13th edition of Amsterdam Art Week and shared the dates for the 2025 event as 20 - 25 May (press view 21-23 May).
This year’s event takes place during the 750th year of Amsterdam festivities and firmly places the Dutch city as an important hub for arts and culture. Visit the Dutch capital this spring, by the stunning canals to view major new exhibitions, gallery shows, and emerging areas of the city popping up with new project spaces and cultural and lifestyle destinations. The city will transform into a creative hub across the compact yet vibrant city for one of the biggest art weeks in Europe.
This year, there will also be a focus on Amsterdam West; from Westerpark to the Old West, Sloterdijk and Bos en Lommer, a new and upcoming part of the city for arts and artists as well as wider culture. Amsterdam Art Week is also delighted to kick off the week with a special symposium in collaboration with ArtTable NL, with the programme to be shared in March.
The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, is a breeding ground for international and multidisciplinary talent in the city and is a core partner again this year, a tradition which has grown since the art week began. In 2025, Amsterdam Art Week will jointly celebrate the opening of Amsterdam Art Week with the Rijksakademie Open Studios. Amsterdam is known for the connection between its gallery scene and the residents and alums of this prestigious art residency programme. Visitors will be able to go behind the scenes and experience the work of this year’s cohort. A special media visit to see the work will also take place in March, details to be announced. Major shows will take place at the Oude Kerk, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Foam, Amsterdam Museum, Eye Film Museum, and Nxt Museum, featuring artists such as Pamela Rosenkranz, Kim Sooja and Augusta Curiel in their opening exhibitions, as well as Anselm Kiefer, Formafantasma, and more to be announced. The program spans film, photography, and sound, alongside contemporary practices in sculpture, painting, installation, and more.

Meanwhile, project spaces across the city will show the best in emerging talents across spaces that will include Arti et Amicitae, Bradwolff Projects, Buro Stedelijk, CBK Zuidoost, De Appel, Framer Framed, Galerie de Schans, If I Can't Dance, Iona Stichting, ISO, Loods 6, Marwan, No Limits Art Castle, Projectspace 38/40, puntWG, ROZENSTRAAT - a rose is a rose is a rose, Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond, VU Art Science Gallery, W139 and Het Salon.
