Nicolaes favorite technique is acrylic on paper and canvas, a medium he appreciates for its versatility and the freedom it offers in capturing emotions. The fluidity of acrylic paint, combined with the texture and absorbency of paper, allows Nicolaes to work intuitively and spontaneously — translating moods and ideas directly onto the surface without hesitation which is very visible on this work.
