Immediately after the work was sold by telephone to the highest bidder for 1.4 million pounds (1.18 million euros), half of them fragmented, to the astonishment of the auction visitors and employees. A hidden device was operated remotely.
Incidentally, it was the intention of the artist that his creation would be completely fragmented, as it turned out later.
According to Sotheby's, Banksy has created a new artwork with the stunt. The work is now probably worth even more, they think at the auction house. The German museum is now allowed to borrow it from the owner and show it from February 5 to March 3.
