The 30th Edition of Salon du Dessin at the Palais Brongniart in Paris is Postponed

The Salon du Dessin – a major event in the international art fair calendar and initially programmed for March 23-28, 2022 – has been rescheduled to May 18-23, 2022 at the Palais Brongniart in Paris.

The Salon du Dessin – a major event in the international art fair calendar and initially programmed for March 23-28, 2022 – has been rescheduled to May 18-23, 2022 at the Palais Brongniart in Paris.

Due to the evolution of the covid pandemic, the period of March 2022 remains uncertain for the organization of an international event like the Salon du Dessin hosting dealers and visitors from all over the world. The organizers have therefore decided to postpone the 30th edition of the Salon du Dessin to May 18-23, 2022 (opening Tuesday, May 17, 2022).

“We maintained the 2021 edition of the Salon du Dessin by postponing it to the end of June last year. It turned out to be an excellent solution for our exhibitors, visitors, partners and the drawing sphere in general. We are happy, once again, to be able to find a favorable alternative in this crisis situation to which we are all forced to adapt” said Louis de Bayser, Director of the Salon du Dessin.

The museum exhibition within the Salon will be entrusted to the Musée du Grand Siècle, which will host part of the Rosenberg donation, the core of which is 17th century art. Some fifty drawings among the 3,500 drawings that Pierre Rosenberg collected and donated to the Hauts de Seine Department (which is piloting this project) will be presented at the Salon du Dessin. This selection includes drawings from the 16th to the 20th century, representative of Rosenberg’s taste and eclecticism.

Other highlights of the Salon will be an exhibition of the winners of the 15th Contemporary Drawing Prize awarded by the Daniel & Florence Guerlain Foundation and 15th edition of the International Drawing Meetings devoted to gardens and botany under the scientific direction of Madame Monique Mosser.

The Salon du Dessin – whose ambition is to unite the very best Old Master, Modern and Contemporary drawings under one roof – will also be accompanied by the 22nd edition of Drawing Week with a series of highly popular extra-mural events. Throughout the week, the Salon du Dessin will be offering unique visits to graphic art studios in more than 20 museums and institutions, including this year the Palace of Versailles, the Musée d'Orsay, the Pompidou Center, the Musée de l 'Armée and the Emile Hermès Collection.
